BLACK DEATH - Colombia
Dark Arts Coffee
Variety: Caturra, Typica
Altitude: 1700 - 2000 masl
Inzá is a place of great cultural significance as it is home to the national park of Tierradentro, a pre-Colombian culture which began to flourish in 200bc and continued into the 17th century. This site contains many 'hypogea' underground tombs cut into volcano tuff and measuring up to 12m by 7m. These tombs mimicked houses with stairs and decorations inside to create symmetry between the worlds of the living and the dead. Farmers here previously sold their coffee to intermediaries who would blend everything they bought and export it as 'coffee from Huila' but since 2003 have been able to sell more directly meaning full transparency and traceability.
Incredibly balanced with melted chocolate mouthfeel blood orange acidity with sugar cane sweetness, strawberry and floral notes
