The fertile soil and ideal climate found in the Ngororongoro highlands is obvious from arrival due to the dense population of nearly all animal species of Africa that can be found here. This UNESCO world heritage site lies in the largest inactive, unfilled volcano crater in the world. The Meyers family who has been farming coffee in the crater since the 90s take full advantage of the volcanic soil. Also in a bid to respect their environment the family has been working to modernise the infrastructure. Installing, for instance, drip irrigation and a water-saving pulper using 1 litre of water per 1 ton of coffee cherries.
