Established in 2014 the Halo Beriti washing station serves 750 smallholders in the Gedeb region. After delivery to the washing station, it is de-pulped and undergoes a fermentation time of 48–72 hours. It is washed clean, then soaked for 8–16 hours, then washed one more time before being dried on raised beds for 9–12 days. This is a ‘special preparation’ lot. Which means more attention to detail is present through the entire process. As the seeds are on the drying beds they are combed through and any that are drying unevenly or showing other defects like insect damage is removed.
