First established in 1966 Karimikui coffee factory sits on 6 acres of land in the Kirinyaga county. In the foothills of Mount Kenya, the farms’ red volcanic soil is nutrient rich and great for coffee growing. After being picked the cherries are delivered, often by bicycle or ox driven cart, to the factory where the farmers sort the over and under ripes by hand. Once pulped and fermented the coffee is washed with water from the Nyamindi river that flows from the mountain.

This coffee has a beautiful candied apple sweetness with a delightful rhubarb acidity that finishes with a sticky peach kompot texture.
