THE PRODUCER

Kenya AA Kamwangi comes from the Kamwangi washing station, part of the New Ngariama Farmers Cooperative Society in Kirinyaga county in Kenya’s central highlands, where around 1,500 smallholder farmers cultivate varieties such as SL28, Batian and Ruiru 11 at altitudes up to 1,800 masl. The cherries are hand-sorted before being pulped, fermented for 24-36 hours under shade, washed and graded by density, then sun-dried on raised beds with protection from sun and night moisture, producing a clean, lively washed coffee with vibrant fruit character. Kamwangi has built a strong reputation for quality over many seasons, reflecting the diligence of its farmers and mill staff and supporting the cooperative model that underpins livelihoods across the local coffee community in this volcanic, high-elevation growing region.
