THE PRODUCER

Produced by approximately 200 smallholders belonging to an indigenous reserve in the rural areas of Aponte, Nariño, this 100% Caturra microlot is a product of Cofinet’s Regional Plus program. Pioneering honey-processing in Colombia since 2017, these farmers leverage the area's volcanic ash soil, high altitude of 1,700–1,800 meters, and consistently low temperatures (11–25°C) and relative humidity, which allow the coffee cherries to dry slowly and develop complex flavor profiles. Originating as a natural mutation of Red Bourbon in Minas Gerais, Brazil, the Caturra variety is favored for its higher yield and disease resistance, yielding a cup with a score of +86 that exhibits vibrant notes of caramelized dried fruits, yellow fruits, cardamom, panela, and crisp citric acidity.
